Fannah (Fanny) Quick

Fannah (Fanny) b. Jan 8th, 1769 Newton, Sussex New Jersey died October 20th, 1860 Knowlton, Warren County, New Jersey married Jacob Hetzel a trained clockmaker who died about May 1814.[1] There is a peculiar bigamy case involving the State of New Jersey against Jacob Hetzel on October 1792. It states that Jacob Hetzel, yeoman of Oxford Township. Sussex Co. did marry one Dorothy Fever or Feven on May 14th, 1790 and Married one Sischo Quick December 1st, 1790 while still married to Dorothy. The case also mentions James Quick as a witness in October 1793.[2] It seems Sischo could be a new unnamed child of the Quick family in Oxford Township. Jacob Hetzel was also married to a Lena and had Michael born about 1792 and Peter born about 1795. Jacob was sued by Peter Quick (not sure if it’s Jr. or Sr.). and Philip Quick Sr. for 100 dollars on an appeal on a trespass case in September term 1800.[3] Jacob had previously been awarded $60 in May of 1800 and for being ejected from a lot of land that he leased from Peter Quick in 1793. “Jacob Hetsall & Hanna Hetsall his wife late Hanna Quick daughter and heir of Peter Quick” are mentioned in the Division of Peter Quick’s estate in 1806.[4]
